Upgrade your dog’s daily meal with our natural meal toppers – perfect for fussy eaters, extra support from within and a bowl full of happy taste. What exactly are meal toppers?
Mealtoppers are tasty and functional additions to your dog's regular food. They come in all sorts of forms: powders, broths, pastes, fermented mixes, fish crumbles or vegetable blends. One adds flavour, the other extra nutritional value – and many toppers do both.
A good meal topper makes the food more attractive and nutritious. It is ideal for dogs that are fed up with their kibble, have difficulty eating or just need a little extra support - think of digestion, skin, resistance or energy level.
Why would you use a meal topper?
There are several reasons why mealtoppers are such a smart choice:
- Stimulates appetite: perfect for fussy eaters or dogs that are ill, recovering or stressed.
- Enriches the food: easily add omega 3, probiotics, collagen or vitamins without changing the entire diet.
- Makes variety easy: without a complete food transition you can still give your dog some variety.
- Helps with specific needs: such as supporting intestinal flora, skin and coat, or soothing herbs for stress.
- Increases the pleasure of eating: and that makes the feeding bowl a party again!
What types of meal toppers are there?
At Shop with Marley's you will only find natural, honest toppers without unnecessary additives. These are the most popular forms:
- Bone broth: packed with collagen, amino acids and flavour. Good for joints, gut and hydration.
- Ground dried meat or fish: high in protein, rich in omega 3, and mega attractive to picky eaters.
- Vegetables: dried vegetables packed with vitamins.
- Herbal blends: with herbs such as nettle, turmeric or spirulina – provides natural support.
- Probiotic or prebiotic powders: for those who really want to work on digestion and resistance.
Which dogs are mealtoppers suitable for?
In short: for all dogs. But they are extra valuable for:
- Picky eaters who find chunks boring
- Seniors who have difficulty eating or lose sense of smell
- Dogs with digestive problems such as flatulence, irregular bowel movements or sensitive intestines
- Sporty dogs that could use extra proteins and recovery substances
- Dogs recovering after illness, surgery or stress
- Puppies that are growing rapidly and could use some support
Even if your dog is doing “fine”, you can still give that little bit extra with meal toppers – preventative, enrichment or just for fun.
How do you use mealtoppers?
Simple! You sprinkle or pour the topper over the regular food. Some toppers are activated with a little lukewarm water (for example bouillon powder), others are given directly. You can also combine them with enrichment - such as freezing them in a licking mat, mixing them with peanut butter or using them as a filling for a Kong. Pay attention to the dosage as stated on the packaging. Always start slowly, especially with sensitive stomachs. And: variation is allowed! You don't have to use the same topper every day - vary according to the season or need.
What makes our meal toppers special?
At Shop with Marley's we only choose products:
- With a natural origin
- No artificial flavours, fragrances or colours
- With a clear function (and not “just fun”)
- From brands we trust and use ourselves
We believe in nutrition as a basis, but also in the pleasure of variety. A meal topper should not only do good, but also be tasty. And of course Marley and Raven test that themselves. 😋
Tips from the chef (aka Raven):
- Add a spoonful of broth to the chunk in warm weather – this will encourage drinking.
- Mix fish flakes with goat yogurt and freeze for a refreshing snack.
- Use a herbal blend as a gentle detox after a course of antibiotics.
Mealtoppers are a supplementary food, not a medication. Overdosing usually has no serious effect, but it is always wise to follow the guidelines – especially for dogs with sensitivities or allergies. Are you in doubt? Ask us or consult your vet.
