Conscious choices in products

At Shop with Marley's, sustainability is not only in what we sell, but especially in how and why we select it. Every product that finds a place in our shop has a story - and that story starts with caring for the world and for your dog. Our selection criteria are clear and strict: we only choose products that are made with respect for animals, people and the planet. No standard mass production, but conscious choices that make a real impact.

How we select our products:

  • Natural and recyclable material use

    We choose toys, harnesses and care products based on their material and lifespan. We prefer:

    • Natural materials such as hemp, organic cotton, jute and natural rubber. These materials are not only biodegradable or recyclable, but also safe and soft for dogs.
    • Recycled raw materials such as recycled rope and PET bottles, which are given a second life in sturdy, durable toys.
    • Cruelty-free care without microplastics, parabens or unnecessary chemicals. What you put on your dog should be as kind to the planet as it is to their fur.

  • Products that last longer

    Choosing sustainability also means choosing quality. That's why we make sure that our products can withstand real dog life: running, rolling, biting and barking.

    A toy that lasts longer means less waste and fewer replacements. That's why we select products that are sturdy, repairable where possible, and made to withstand intensive use.

  • Snacks with respect for the chain

    Sustainability also extends beyond the ingredients list in our snack selection. We choose suppliers who focus on:

    • Locally produced ingredients , to reduce transportation miles.
    • Transparent origin , so you know where the snacks come from.
    • Animal welfare at the source, because respect for nature starts with respect for life.

    Snacks that, for example, come from residual flows from the food industry (such as pieces of meat that would otherwise be wasted), fit perfectly into our sustainable picture: they make use of what is already there, without putting an additional burden on the planet.

  • Suppliers with a mission

    We work with small producers and brands that are just as critical as we are. Brands that are transparent about their production process, that produce on a small scale and fairly, and that believe, just like us, that sustainability is not a trend, but a responsibility.

    When selecting new brands we always ask these questions:

    • Is there responsible production?
    • Are animals, people and nature respected?
    • Has the entire life cycle of the product been considered?

    Only if the answer is a resounding “YES” three times will it be allowed to fill the digital shelves of Shop with Marley's.

With us, sustainable products are not the exception.

They are the norm. Shop with Marley's is not a 'green corner'. Here, every choice is a conscious step towards a fairer, greener world for dogs and people. Together we are building a future in which every happy wag also means a happy planet.

Less waste, more happy paws

Waste is one of the biggest hidden problems in the pet industry. Every year, millions of pounds of pet treats and toys are thrown away worldwide — often simply because the packaging is damaged, the expiration date is approaching, or because new collections need to be stocked.

Shop shelves full of waste

About 17% of all food waste occurs at retail level ? That means: products that are perfectly usable, but are taken off the shelves because the expiration date is approaching or because the packaging has minor damage.

Dog items are also lost unnecessarily

It is estimated that more than 1.3 million tonnes of animal-related products (such as snacks, toys and care products) are wasted in Europe each year? Often these are products that are still perfectly usable, but are simply no longer "saleable".

Perfection is overrated!

Much of this waste is directly related to consumer trends, seasonal promotions and packaging errors? A snack that looks a little less than perfect, a toy with a crease in the box — voila, it’s thrown away.

Be a hero. Prevent food waste

After reading these figures, don't you get goose bumps? 88 million tons of food wasted. Dog products that are thrown away because the packaging has a wrinkle or the shelf life is almost over. These are not small mistakes - that's a shame. That hurts. Especially when you know that almost all of those things are still perfectly usable.

Save our leftovers

At Shop with Marley's, we can't sit back and watch this happen. That's why we created our Save the Leftovers category: a loving rescue mission for products that would otherwise end up in the trash bin far too soon. In the Save the Leftovers category, you'll find products that: Have a shorter shelf life (but are still perfectly usable) Have damaged packaging (but are in perfect condition on the inside) Or are simply leftovers that we want to offer extra cheaply to prevent waste. These are snacks that your dog will still wag his tail for, toys that still promise wagging adventures, and care products that still make those lovely dog ​​noses shine.

With every purchase from Save the Leftovers, you not only save a top product from waste, but you also actively contribute to a greener world. And you make your dog at least as happy with it as with a brand new product from the box. Maybe even happier. Because let's be honest: It doesn't matter to your dog whether there is a fold in the box. But for the planet, it makes a world of difference.

Packaging and shipping with a mission 📦

At Shop with Marley's, sustainable entrepreneurship doesn't stop once your order is in a box. On the contrary: we also consciously choose our packaging and shipping — for less waste, less emissions and more happy paws. Because did you know that:

More than 141 million tons of plastic packaging waste are produced worldwide every year?

And that the transport sector is responsible for around 30% of global CO₂ emissions? These are not figures to shrug your shoulders at. We want to do something about that.

At Shop with Marley’s, we only use boxes made from recycled cardboard — sturdy enough to get your wagging-worthy orders to you safely, and 100% recyclable. Plastic filler? Not with us. We consciously choose paper, cardboard, or other eco-friendly alternatives. And where possible, we simply give packaging a second life. Even our tape is recyclable, so your entire package creates as little waste as possible. We make your order as compact as possible, without cramming it in, so less space is needed in our delivery trucks. Less space = fewer trips = less CO₂. These may be small choices, but together they make a huge difference.

Choose green, pick up at a parcel point 🌍

Want to go even further? Then we have something nice for you: If you choose to collect at a parcel point, you will receive a discount on your shipping costs! Why is that so important? When you choose delivery to a parcel point: We reduce the number of kilometers your package has to travel. We prevent extra trips because no one is home & we make delivery routes shorter and more efficient.

Did you know that delivery to a collection point produces an average of 30% less CO₂ emissions than home delivery? By choosing smart, you not only save emissions — but with us, your wallet too.

Cool, but how does that work?

It's very simple: Select "Pick up at a parcel point" at checkout. Pay for your order and come back to us after checkout to choose your delivery location (a bit awkward, but our system couldn't do it any other way). You will automatically receive a discount on your shipping costs — as a thank you for your green choice. Once your order has arrived, you can pick it up at a time that suits you. Easy, right?

Packing and shipping with respect

We also make conscious choices when it comes to packaging and shipping. Orders are packed in recycled cardboard, with recyclable tape and without unnecessary plastic. Where possible, we reuse packaging materials — always with a view to less waste and more impact. And because we know that small choices make a big difference, we encourage customers to choose to collect from a parcel point. Fewer kilometers, less emissions, more happy paws.
